CEHEGÍN
A diverse and packed program for all ages, featuring culture, sports, live music, kids' activities, traditions, religious events, and many free activities.
Cehegín is getting ready to fully experience its 2026 Patron Saint Festivities in Honor of the Virgen de las Maravillas. This celebration is deeply rooted in the town's identity and will once again bring locals and visitors together around tradition, community life, and devotion to their Patron Saint.
The main festive calendar runs from September 8 to 14, featuring a program designed for all audiences. It combines cultural, sporting, children's, musical, traditional, and religious events, alongside numerous free activities.
The Festivities Kick Off on August 29
Although the main days are in September, the program starts on Saturday, August 29, with the reception of authorities and the opening of the "Reinas del Siglo XXI" exhibition. The first major events will also take place that day: the Crowning of the Fiesta Queen and her Court, followed by the Official Opening Speech (Pregón) by María Senena Corbalán García at the Plaza del Castillo.
Culture and Theater with 'Begastri Escénica'
Culture takes center stage with Begastri Escénica, a theater cycle offering three performances on September 1, 2, and 3 at 9:30 PM at the Adolfo Suárez Cultural Center. Art exhibitions and various creative activities will also enrich the pre-festival lineup.
Live Music for All Generations
Music will once again be a major highlight, featuring a wide variety of styles and genres.
The main highlight is a free concert by Diana Navarro alongside the Cehegín Musical Society on Sunday, September 13, at 10:30 PM in the Patio del Convento.
The musical lineup also includes performances by Los Marismeños, Hermanos Jones, Decai, Rosalinda Galán, La Mundial, Eclipse Show, Antonio Micol, Juandi Zafra, Los Parrandboleros, La Habitación Roja, the Ciudad de Cehegín Choir, and the Philharmonic Orchestra, alongside DJ sets, live orchestras, and local bands.
Sports, Leisure, and Family Fun
Sports enthusiasts can enjoy tournaments in pétanque, tennis, padel, and football, as well as sports exhibitions.
Children will also have plenty to do with family-friendly activities, including workshops, games, scavenger hunts (gymkhanas), water activities, kids' afternoons, and live entertainment.
Local Traditions Take the Stage
Tradition remains at the heart of the festival, featuring events deeply cherished by locals. The Gigantes y Cabezudos (Giants and Big-Heads), the Tío de la Pita musical character, the Día de los Huertanos (Murcian Folklore Day), and various displays of local folklore will fill the streets of Cehegín with music and color.
A Historic Bullfight with Victorino Martín
Cehegín will become the epicenter of bullfighting in the Region of Murcia with a historic event on September 10, featuring bulls from the legendary Victorino Martín ranch. The lineup features bullfighters Manuel Jesús "El Cid", Manuel Escribano, and local star Antonio Puerta.
The Virgen de las Maravillas: The Heart of the Festival
Religious events are the core pillar of these festivities.
September 10 (Feast Day): A solemn religious service will be held, followed by the traditional procession transferring the Patron Saint from the San Esteban Convent to the Santa María Magdalena Church.
September 14: The emotional return procession of the Virgin back to her Sanctuary will take place, marking the closing ceremony of the 2026 festivities.
