Collective artwork created by several artists from La Compañía de Mario (LACDM). This mural pays tribute to Hippocampus guttulatus, the scientific name of the seahorse species native to the Mar Menor, one of the most iconic and representative species of this unique ecosystem. For decades, it was a common sight among the lagoon's seagrass meadows and an important part of its biodiversity. However, environmental changes affecting the Mar Menor over recent decades have caused a dramatic decline in its population, making sightings increasingly rare and turning the species into a symbol of the lagoon's ecological vulnerability. The artwork invites visitors to reflect on the importance of preserving the natural heritage of the Mar Menor and protecting the ecosystems that support unique species such as the seahorse.
