Nature, Organic Farming and Inclusion Next to the Noria Grande
The Abarán Educational Garden is a space for learning, participation and inclusion that invites visitors to discover the world of organic farming and environmental awareness in an engaging, practical and enjoyable way.
Located next to the historic Noria Grande of Abarán, this approximately 1,800 m² space has undergone a major transformation thanks to the work and dedication of everyone involved in La Noria Occupational Centre, run by the Abarán City Council, together with the collaboration of a group of volunteers.
A Garden for Learning and Sharing
The Educational Garden was created as an initiative that brings together environmental education, social inclusion and sustainability. Its different areas allow visitors to explore various aspects of organic farming, biodiversity, the responsible use of resources and the circular economy.
Through its different spaces, visitors can discover, in a practical way, the value of farming while respecting natural cycles, learn about the importance of preserving our surroundings and understand how small everyday actions can contribute to a more sustainable way of life.
The People of La Noria Occupational Centre: The Main Protagonists
One of the features that makes this experience particularly unique is the active participation of the users of La Noria Occupational Centre, a specialised social service run by Abarán City Council that works to promote the social integration, personal autonomy and quality of life of people with disabilities.
During visits, they work alongside the responsible team to guide visitors and explain the different sections and features of the garden. In this way, their knowledge, experience and abilities become a fundamental part of the visit.
This approach brings significant human and educational value to the space, while also helping to highlight the work and abilities of people with disabilities, promote their integration and recognise their active role within the community.
Organic Farming and the Circular Economy
The garden also serves as a small open-air learning environment where visitors can discover practices that respect nature. Organic farming, responsible water use, the efficient use of resources, the reuse of materials and the protection of biodiversity are some of the principles reflected throughout the space.
The experience shows that a garden can be much more than a place to grow plants: it can become a tool for education, environmental awareness, community building and the promotion of sustainable habits.
A Different Kind of Tourism Experience
Visiting the Abarán Educational Garden means discovering an initiative that combines heritage, nature, sustainability and social inclusion. Its location next to the Noria Grande also places it within one of the areas that best represents Abarán's agricultural traditions and historic use of water.
